THE BUZZ: Indie audiences and critics alike have praised the latest work from writer-director Aaron Katz; it seems his mystery-genre experiment is something we haven't seen before. Portland, Oregon has never been more in focus, and there's always been a fertile filmmaking scene there. This one is so on our late-winter radar.

Storyline

Danny (Adam Sandler) must engage Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) his faithful assistant to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife. Danny must pretend that he is married, because he lied to his dream girl, Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) the most gorgeous woman in the world. To keep the woman he loves, covering up one lie soon turns into many lies.

THE BUZZ: Audiences passed on The Dilemma and I have to say this premise is just as unappealing. A Hawaiian vacation with Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker must be hard work for Adam Sandler, though. At least the press is being kind to Jennifer Aniston; instead of trying to romantically link her to Sandler, they're focusing on her "beachy" hair styles, rumored baby-food diet (please), and gal-paling with Nicole.

THE BUZZ: Tangled is still breaking box-office records in Europe, but G&J is shaping up to be another Disney miscue. Did you know that John Lasseter nixed the project initially as he was establishing Pixar at the studio?

Storyline

In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian's Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia - to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father's memory, and retrieve the lost legion's golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.

THE BUZZ: Director Kevin Macdonald (State of Play) reunites with his Last King of Scotland screenwriter, Jeremy Brock, to dust off another small-screen BBC production. Channing Tatum brings the muscle mass, and his continued ascent to leading manhood will be assisted here by a remarkable supporting cast (and the fact that he doesn't really have to learn an accent). The whole questing son/missing father aspect has us referring to the movie as Tron: Antiquity.
